Editorial Policy — The Twelve Laws
These twelve rules are binding editorial law on every page bookfactory.cafe ever publishes. They are enforced at publish; violations are pulled, not grandfathered. We publish them verbatim because a policy you can't read isn't a policy.
1. Named curator on every list and hub. No page publishes under a generic or absent byline. The curator is a corroborated entity — a real publishing identity with a checkable record.
2. Unique curation per page. Every book entry carries a 2–4 sentence opinionated, page-specific reason. No database dumps, no entry reused verbatim across pages, no filler standing in for a point of view.
3. Human review before publish. AI drafts; a human-supervised editorial pass approves every page. Unsupervised auto-publish is forbidden.
4. Cadence cap. Page count grows behind reader demand, never ahead of it. We publish at a plausible human editorial pace, capped, always.
5. No permutation spam. A genre, trope, or mood page exists only when unique curation exists for it. "Best {trope} books" permutations without a curator's real picks are forbidden.
6. No manufactured credentials. Curator authority is taste-based and verifiable — what they've published, what they've reviewed, their record on this site. No invented experience or biography, ever.
7. Prune or die. Any page that serves no readers after six months is improved, merged, or removed. Zero-value pages are cleared on a quarterly pass.
8. Real freshness only. "Updated 2026" appears only when the list content actually changed. Fake freshness stamps are forbidden.
9. A citable page carries its evidence. Every hub and list includes at least one quotable statistic or curator quotation, with sources cited where claims are factual.
10. Light, honest pages. No navigation bloat, no content hidden behind scripts — every page readable as plain HTML by any reader, browser, or machine.
11. Affiliate disclosure on every monetized page, plainly worded. Star ratings never appear on our own books' own sales pages — self-serving stars are a trust violation and we don't do them anywhere.
12. No astroturfing, ever. Studio staff and pen names identify honestly when participating in any community — Reddit, forums, comment sections, anywhere.
