What we know about you, and what we do with it
Almost nothing, and almost nothing. That is not a slogan — it is a consequence of how we make money. We charge authors a one-time fee and take a share of sales, so there is no business reason to build a profile of you.
The short version
We do not run ads. We do not use third-party trackers. We do not sell or share reader or author data with anyone. Our revenue comes from conversion fees and a share of sales, which is why we do not need to monetise you.
Readers do not need an account to read a first chapter, and we do not ask who you are before you read.
What we collect
Authors: the email you sign in with, your pen name and profile, your manuscripts and the books you publish, and payout preferences. We never see your bank details — those go to Stripe directly.
Readers: an email address at the point of purchase, so we can deliver your book. If you opt in to an author’s list, your email is shared with that author — that is the point of opting in, and it is never done without your action.
Nothing else. No location, no device fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers.
Who else touches it
Stripe processes payments. Supabase hosts our database and files. Vercel serves the site. Resend delivers our email. Each sees only what it needs to do its job, and none of them are permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
Your control
Export everything we hold about you, as a file, from your settings. No request form and no delay.
Ask us to delete your account and we will, along with your data, except records we are legally required to retain for tax and fraud purposes.
If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR rights of access, correction, erasure, portability and objection apply to you. If you are in California, so do your CCPA rights. We apply them to everyone regardless.
